J.Cole dropped a trailer for his upcoming album, The Fall-Off
The Fall-Off trailer shows J.Cole washing his car at a self-serve station before enjoying a meal alone at a quiet diner. As the video shows J.Cole living a humble life, a narrator reminds the audience fame doesn’t last forever.
“Everything is supposed to go eventually,” the narrator says at the start of the video.
In a message that appears directed to those who undermine artists when they disappear from the spotlight, the trailer reminds them why their views may be distorted.
“It’s like, ‘This guy used to be famous and then he fell off. What happened?'” the narrator continues.
He then reminds listeners “few people reach that level” of fame in the first place.
“Of course, it’s not gonna last forever, because somebody else has to take that spot, and that’s how show business has been forever. But no, they want to say that guy fell off,” the narrator says. “They want to look down on him for just going through the natural cycle of rising and falling.”
Before the trailer ends, J.Cole can be heard rapping one of the tracks from his upcoming album.
Through Instagram, J.Cole shared the cover art for The Fall-Off, which features an old photo of his humble studio setup pre-fame. On X, he hinted that his new album could be a double-disc record by writing, “Disc 2 – Track 2,” which is also the title of his latest single.
