An AI-generated photo of Tyler Perry and The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Marlo Hampton kissing is quickly making its rounds across social media, sparking rumors that the two are dating. Not only is the image completely fake, but Perry and Hampton are not a couple.

Rumors about Tyler Perry and Marlo Hampton started when an AI-generated photo of them kissing circulated online

In addition to the fake photo of Perry and Hampton locking lips, the post featured a real photo of Perry and Hampton at the Sea Salt SoulFull Sunday Gospel Brunch on March 15, according to Complex. The post caption reads, “Tyler Perry spotted with his new girlfriend.”

As Reality Tea reported, “They were all there to celebrate the birthday of Catherine Brewton, an executive at Broadcast Music, Inc.”

According to Loren Lorosa, who serves as The Breakfast Club’s senior news producer, Perry and Hampton had never met each other prior to the brunch event, though they were seen sitting next to each other.

“They are not dating. That is not a thing, that is not happening. This was their first meeting from what I’m told,” Lorosa said in a brief video clip in which she debunked the rumors.

Tyler Perry keeps his dating life private

The director’s longest relationship seems to be with fellow filmmaker Gelila Bekele. Together, they have an 11-year-old son named Aman Tyler Perry. Perry and Bekele started dating in 2007 before going their separate ways in 2020, per Complex.

In an Instagram post that same year, Perry shared a photo of himself with the following caption: “This is what a midlife crisis looks like. I’m 51, single and wondering what the next chapter in my life will look like. Whatever it looks like I’m going to walk with God, be the best father and man I can be, hold my head up high, and try to look my best doing it!! In a world with so much sadness, please try and stay in the good! Merry Christmas and let’s look forward to 2021 bringing us peace!”

Perry appears to be single at the moment, though he faces a $77 million sexual assault lawsuit filed on Dec. 26, 2025, by actor Mario Rodriguez, who had a minor role in Boo! A Madea Halloween. Rodriguez alleges that Perry touched him in between his legs and near his penis. However, Perry calls Rodriguez’s complaint a money grab, saying his claims “have no basis in fact or law and no merit.”

A few months prior, Derek Dixon, who worked on Perry’s The Oval, filed a lawsuit against him with similar accusations, alleging that Perry sexually assaulted him for years. As Blavity reported at the time, Perry’s legal team shut down the claims, saying in part, “Dixon invents alleged assaults and encounters that never happened.”
